Messrs J, T. StemDridge and Co., announce that they have a large stock of kitchen and household coal on hand for purchase by customers. With this issue is presented to readers a circular now being issued by the Auckland Branch of the Navy League, containing a reprint of a leading article which appeared in this paper on June 12th last and an applicable poem by Mr Clive Wily. The circular is in two colours and has been printed and published at the "Times" office. A special meeting of the Pukekohe Borough Council was held last Wednesday when a formal resolution was passed authorising the raising of a loan to pay off three loans falling due in November next and also striking special rates as security for the same. The resolution will be submitted for confirmation at a meeting of the Council on October 24th The levying of the special rates as mentioned is of a formal character to comply with legal requirements and does not entail any actual increase in existing rating.
