Special Meeting A ppscial meeting of tke Borough Council was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening last, when there were present the Mayor (Mr H. G. R. Mason), Crs A. B. Barter, Q H. Armstrong, J. W. Morrow, A. P. Day ah, and J.' T. Stembridge with the Town Clerk (Mr J. F. Deane). VOTB OF SYJfPATHY
Before commencing the business of the meeting Cr Stembridge moved that a letter of sympathy should be sent to the relatives of Sergt Hutcheou and Pte Luxford who died whilst in the service of their country and of Pte Howe who was wounded whilst on active service. The chief business of the meeting was the consideration and confirmation of the Council's new by-laws especially those relating to electric lighting. After much consideration the proposed by-laws with certain modifications were confirmed.
KEfO STREET CESSMT In accordance with the instructions from the Council Mr D. W. McArthur reported in writing that he had examined the cesspit near Mr Lusher's property in King street and found that the drain on the opposite side of the road was partly silted up and recommended that the drain should be thoroughly examined and certain improvements carried out which would remedy the nuisance complained of. On the motion of Cr Barter the report was adopted.
