MANUREWA

Despite war conditions and the very high price of building materials this district is making steady and substantial progress. Just to show what can be accomplished by enterprise and energy, take the example of Mr T. Eleman, of Hills road. Here on a property of approximately 90 acres', within the last 12 months some five substantial bungalows have been added to this very fine part of our district Each bungalow is on from 6 to 10 acres and these homesteads have all been sold. Mr H. T Shepherd, of Auckland, is the builder Other residences in course of construction or just completed, are one each on the Valley and Massey roads, and on Hill road the large residence for Mr Geo Coxhead at a cost of over £2OOO.

Mr Ppgler, "the model suburb agent," reports for the August quarter Manurewa sales as follows : Mr Humphries, 21- acres and bungalow, Weymouth road; Mr Allen's Section °2 Station Estate, Massey road ;Mr T. Eleman's 10 acres and fi roomed bungalow, Hills road; Mr W. Willmott's 7\ acres and bungalow, Valley road ; Mr F. 'Wood, house and 3 acres, opposite the Anglican Church, IWeymouth* : road ; Totara Park Sections Nos 3" ! and 5, 17 acres, to Mr Oldham ; sections 1 to 4, 16 acres in all, to Mr Symes ; secions 33 and 34, B.', acres, to Mr Kebblewhite, and the following city properties : Mrs Grey's two 2-storey residences, Marine Parade, Devonport : Mr Scott's shop property, Parnell, and Mrs Laird's Heme Bay bungalow.

On behalf of the Puriri Park Syndicate, Manurewa, a further contract for Hill road has . been let to Mr Masters, of Papatoetoe. The contractor is now only waiting for better weather, when it is confidently anticipa'ed that some three quarters of a mile of this road, extending from Mr David Nathan's gate to Totara Park boundary, will be completed and open for traffic by Christmas.
