The Times. PUBLISHED ON TUESDAY AND FRIDAY AFTERNOONS. "We nothing extenuate, nor set down aught in malice." FRIDAY, AUGUST 31, 1917 THE WAR LOAN

It is the duty of every loyal subject of the Dominion, who is able to do so, to subscribe to the war loan now being raised by the Government to help win the war. The Dominion has on past occasions rallied to the call of patriotism in a commendable spirit worthy of the noblest traditions and it is confidently anticipated that the response to the present call for money will be equally praiseworthy. Without money men cannot be provided for, and the eall is now for action. For the small sum of 13- a certificate can be purchased for £1 payable in ten years ; for £65 a certificate for £IOO can be obtained for the same period. An alternative investment of 16/- will put chase a certificate for £1 payable in five years. The appeal is a reasonable and a just one and our readers, we feel sure, will be prompted to assist to the fullest extent of their abilities, recognising by so doing that they are helping the country and themselves and assisting to overcome the enemy. The lists are due to close on Monday next.
