DRURY
A recent function in Drury, wh : ch was well attended and highly successful, was the smoker tendered to Mr W. Whitelaw, stationmaster, in connection with his transfer to Pukekohe. Friends of the guest came from great distances to do him honour. The function was presided over by Mr W. H. C. Glasson, who proved himself an excellent chairman. Songs were contributed by Messrs Morgon, Christmas, McConnell and Hill. The toast of "Our Gnest" was submitted by Mr J. Flanagan and Mr Glasson, on behalf of friends, made a presentation to Mr Whitelaw of a handsome gold albert. The local Cadets and their friends are studying and rehearsing: a drama, which they are ambitious of producing soon. Work on the railway line in the vicinity of Drury is progressing apace despite the severity of the weather.
