PAPAKURA
There was a crowded attendance at the farewell social and dance held in the Picture Hall on Friday evening last in honour of Ptes Jack Walker, Roy James, W Mack and —. Kane of the 30th Reinforcements, who were on tinal leave. The Vicar (the Rev W. C. Woods) presided Among those who contributed to the programme were Miss E Johnson and Me-srs T. C. Seaton (songs), and Mr Harris, of Auckland, (songs and recitation), all the artists being well received. During the interval presentations of an " open order " to each guest were made by the Chairman on behalf of the Farewell Committee. In an appropriate speech the Yicar wished all the bes' of luck and a safe return and incidentally remarked that f"<im the district of Kaiaka, Utv*don, Papakura, Manu-re-va alii Druiy 273 mm h A gone to the Front of who ■, 17 woe killed. Mr D W. Jones also gave the •'boys" some eucjii agiug advice and referred to the fact that ihere were no less than b'3 ex-pupiH of the Papakura school on the Roll of Honour. P/ivate W. Mack returned thanks on behalf of himself and comrades for 'he gifts Dancing was then indulged in, Mrs II Walters supplying the music and Mr P. Bullen acting as M.C. Supper was served by Mesdauies E D. McLeunan, D. Wil-on and Paul, aufl was thoroughly enj >yed.
