PUKEKOHE BOWLING CLUB

Annual Meeting Surue 30 members attended the annual meeting of the Pukekohe Bowling Club held in the Council Chambers last evoning, the Prc-si dent (Mr Frank Perkins) being in the chair. Tho Committee, in their annual report, congratulated tho mom bars on the Club's increased prosperity. Tho membership had increased by 15 and now stood at 71, five members being on active service. At tho Te Aroha tournament one of the Club's links was tho runner-up and at Auckland the Executive rink was only defeated in the final. Many enjoyable inter-club matches were played during the season, The thanks of the Club were due to Messrs Barter, Clarke, Grigor, Lawrie, and Perkins for trophies presented and also to Mr \V. Roulston for a special donation of £5 ss. The balance-sheet showed that tho financial position was very satisfactory but the Committee suggested that tc effect a reduction of the mortgage an annual concert shoul I be held or a levy of 5s per member made The Club during tho pist season had become evon m re popular with outside bowlers and was spoken of as the most hospitable club in the Auckland centre. The balance-sheet disclosed an income of £2IK Hs 9d (including subscriptions £l4l 18s and balance brought forward £2 19s 10d) an 1 expenditure £241 7s lid (including £SO paid for reduction off mortgage, £3l 15s interest, and £33 lis lid building improvements) leaving a profit of £7 0s lOd. The assets o: the club, comprising land and green, buildings, plant, etc , were scheduled at £O4O 15s lid and liabilities (mortgage £450) at £407 Is Id, or a surplus of £lB2 14s Bd. Mr Barter briefly moved the adoption of the repoit and balancesheet and Mr J. Coady seconded. Mr J. Roulston, in supporting, remarked that tho outgoing Committee were deserving of great credit for tho successful year expeiienced. Ho particularly alluded to the fact that the item for labour, thanks to lun-

oraiv workers, only amounted t) £22 Os Cd. Tbe Committee, In added, had also organised various pati iotic functions and had handed over a faiily substantial sum fur patriotic funds. The motion was unanimously carried.

O'L ni-hhn ; Lion Sec., Mr A B. Barter; Delegates t > Auckland Centre, Messrs Perkins and Armstrong; Match Committee, Messrs Armstrong, Ilewson and M Wright; Sole Selector, Mr Armstrong. For the four seats on tho Committee there were seven nominations and the successful candidates were Messrs A. F. Brown, Duncan Roulston, J. 11. Keith, ami I C. R. Lusher.

Mr Frank Perkins, in returning thanks for his ro-election as President, referred to the consistent support given hiiu by members. Votes of thanks were accorded to Messrs J F. and I). W. Mc Ir ,hur and Mr M Coughlan for help accorded to the Club, as also to the "Pukekohe Time 3," and with Mr O'Loughleu rotiriog from the Secretaryship appreciation w.;s fittingly expressed of the able manner in which he had discharged tho duties of his office for the past three years. The trophies for last season's competitions were presented to tho respective winners as follows:Championship, Mr J. T. Ilewson; B. Championship, Mr \V. Wilson ; First year's Championship, Mr W.
