DRURY
The last meeting of the Drury Band of Hope was presided over by Mr S. Fielding, and a highly enjoyable programme was givon by the members. The children who took part in the various dialogues and action songs had been ably taught by Miss Dixon who deserves every ere lit.
The concert presided over by Mr J. D. Fyfe engineered by the Drury Cadets in aid of Wounded Soldiers proved a successful function. The Cadets staged a comedy untitled " Mistaken Identity" and created much merriment and applause. Musical items were given by Misses J. Blake, G. McNaughton, F. Oldham and Mr E. Collins and merited the plaudits bestowed The vocalists were Misses B. Kerr, E. Johnston, G. McNaughton, F. Collins, M. and A. Lodge and A. Lott and Mr J. A. Hill several items being encored. The Misses D. Harding and Mr Fife recited and the Vaudeville sketch by the Hill brothers caused much fun. The secretary, Mr W. Sutherland, ably carried out the secretarial duties supported by his committee. Miss G. McNaughton and Mrs H. Lodge accompanied the singers. Mr Jas Flanagan moved a hearty vote of thanks to the entertainers which was carried by acclamation. The dance was a successful one mus.c being supplied by Messrs Costey and Morgan, Mr Hill acting as M.C. A dainty supper was served by the Calets and altogether tho function was a success. The trio by the Misses Lodge and Lott ueseiv 8 special mention as quito a shower of pennies and silver resulted from appoal " Ploase Give me a Penny." The children gracefully thanked the audience.
On Saturday night tho third anniversary of the war a public meeting presided over by Mr J. Flanagan, was held in the Drury Hall and a resolution was moved by Mr J. Flanagan and seconded by Mr Glasson to carry the war to a successful conclusion. Appropriate speeches were delivered by Messrs Flanagan and Glasson
Mr Fyfe moved and Mrs McMurtree seconded a resolution expressing sympathy and condolence by those bereaved of loved ones. The motion was carried by all standing in silence.
At tho last meeting of the Women's Patriotic League, afternoon tea was dispensed by Mis CA.ppleby to a number of members. The undermentioned goods were handed in : 06 pairs sox, 4 Balaclava caps, 1 Cholera belt. The names of tho workers are Mrs Strong, 8 pairs; Mesdames John Blake, Morrison and MeMurtrie, C each; Mesdames Barclay and Glasson, sen., 5 each ; Mesdames C. Appleby and Glasson, 3 each ; Mosdar&es McNaughton, Fyfe and James Blake, 2 each ; Mesdames Lodge, Bremner, Smalifield, W. Brooks and D. Bremner, 1 each; Misses N. Hill 4 pairs, Barns, Bernard and McPhersou 2 each, I. Appleby, McNaughton, Smallffekl 1 each. Mrs John Dickson 1 Balaclava caps, Mrs McNaughton 1 Cholera belt.
Every Tuesday evening the combined Bible classes meet in the Drury Presbyterian Church, the Eev Hales being leader.
