Petersen and family by the residents of Papakura Val'ey in the Alfriston Hrll on Fiiday last on the occasion of them leaving f he district and a very enjoyable even'ng wps spent wirh cards, dancing and a vaiied musical programme. Mr D, A. Eeid, on behvf of friends, made a presentation to the guests and in a very pleasing speech made mention of the ster! : ng qur'ities of both Mr and Mrs Petersen. PAPA KOR A ROAD BOARD At the montl'.y meet : ng of the Papakura Road Borrd held : i the Board's office at A l '• ist: ion Monday last. There were present Messrs M. F D. McLennen (cheiuian), D. A, Reid, J. Emb r ng rid W. He I '., with the clerk (Mr H. Moody). Apology for absence on behr 'f of M* J. Trimble was received. FLOOD WAI£R Mrs Knight, Brookby, w.-ota completing of the seiioi's damage being done not orly to her property but to the road by the damming back of flood water. She asked the Board to compell propeity owners to clear their drains and thvs to relieve the pressure. It was resolved that the clerk should write to Mr S. Clark drawing his attention to some drpins on his property which, if cleared, wou'd greatly assist in the matter.
IiROOKB if-CIEV? DON ROAD A letter was received fcom the Public Works Depaicment notifying the Board that the Depaitment's estimate of the cost of repairs t) Brookby-Clevedon road damaged by floods was £175 and that the Minuter of Public Works had promised a subsidy of £B7, £ for £, subject to the usual conditions.
The Clerk was instructed to write to Wairoa Road Board asking them to pay £43 10s half cost as the said road was a boundary road, and the road in question was used more in the interest of Clevedon setters.
MYERS ROAD The Clerk of the Manurewa Town Board wrote asking that the boundary road known as Myers road should be put in order. It was resolved that Mr D. A. Reid should view the road 'o conjunction Mr Corin, chairman of the Manurewa Town Board, to ascertain to what financial extent Manurewa were prepared to be committed to.
WAR ANNIVERSARY A communication was received from the Premier re commemorating the Anniversary of the Declaration of War and it was agreed that a public meeting should be held in the A l fc Iston Hall to-moirow (Saturday), August 4th, at 7.30 p.m., to canyon the wishes expressed in the letter.
DRAINAGE BOARD PROJECT A letter was received from the Wairoa Eoad Board asking the Board to appoint delegates to attend a meeting to take necessery steps to formulate a Drainage Board, to decide boundaries and other steps necessary.
It was resolved that the Chairman (Mr E. D. McLennen), M3ssrs D. A. Reid and Embling should represent the Board and that Messrs D. Mcltnes, H. Muir, F. M. A'len should be asked to represent the settlers.
It was suggested, sabject to consent of the Wairoa Board, that the first meeting shou'd be held in the Library Eoom at Eap?kr*a on Auguf t £otb, at 1.30 p m.
WEAXIIER DIFFICULTIES Mr Thompson, contractor, was present and regretted that the Board had ordered him to ceaie carting, but it was generally recognised that the exceptional bad weather would not peiJi't it, unless absolutely imperative.
FINANCE Accounts to the amount of £167 were passed for pajjient.
