At a special meeting of the Borough Council held on Thursday last for the purpose of appointing a ranger for the Borough, vlr Walter Absolum was selected for the position. Residents will regret to learn that owing to the curtailment of trains Messrs Andrew and Andrew have decided to discontinue the bus service from tha township to the Station but all other bus services will be continued as usual An ad vertisement is inserted in this issue relative to tho curtailment of the Station cars. Private W. Carson, reported killed in action on July 2ad, was the son of Mr I). Carson of Panmure road, Otahuhu. Previ us to enlisting Pte Carson w<is engaged teichiug in the Waikato. He was a prominent local sportsman and took a prominent part in the Otahuhu Tennis Club both as a player and an official. Two of his brothers are also serving at the front.
