The East Tauiaki Agent for the '• Times " is Miss Scorgie and copies of the paper may be obtained from her at the Post Ollice. | Owing to the continuous rain and the wot state of the paddocks in the distr.ct it was found impossible to Ii .Id the week-end meet of the Hunt Club on Saturday last Quite a number of followers attended and the huntsman (Mr Hirst) took the hounds out for a run on the roads but nothing in the nature of fencing or cross country work was engaged in. Should the weather improve in the next few days the previously fixed dates will be adhered to Tliero was a very fair attendance at the farewell social tendered to Private W. Heaven who is up on linal leave. The rain came down in torrents but many braved the elements and a most enjoyable evening was spent. Dancing was kept up until the early morning hours I tilling the evening Mr Jas Ross, on buiialf of the East Tauiaki residents and of tho Ladies Patriotic Committee presented I'iivate Heaven with a gold band ring and a parcel of knitting and wished him every success and a safo return. Private Heaven, in reply, stated that the Tauiaki boys at the front had done good work and he liopel that he would have tho opportunity of joining them and doing his bit to uphold the prestige of tho Empire. Ileartv cheers given for tho guest concluded a most enj lytible evening.
