Pukekohe " Boy's" Gal* lantpy
Private Reginald McDivitt, who has been awarded the Military Medal for an act of gallantry on the field in connection with the battle of Messines, is a Pukekohe " boy " and is the son of Mr W. McDivitt, a member of the staff of the Pukekohe Dairy Factory. Pte. McDivitt, who was born in Melbourne on the 28th September, 1894, and is therefore in his 23rd year was educated at the Pukekohe public school. After leaving sehool he entered the employ of Mr W. Eoulston and afterwards assisted his father, who was then farming in the dis'rict. Subsequently he ontered the service of the Gane Milking Machine Company and travelled the North Island as their representative. Soon after the outbreak of the war he volunteered for service and left with the 2nd Reinforoements For a time he was in Egypt and also saw much fighting at Galiipoli going through the campaign unscathed. He has taken part in all the battles in which the Anzacs have been engaged and from letters received by his relatives his cheery optimism is an indicative sign of his plucky nature As a sportsman he is remembered as a prominent member of the Pukekohe Football Club. A brother of his, Frank, who is not yet 18 years of age, is also serving with the same Reinforcements and so far has escaped being wounded.
