PAPATOETOE

On Thursday evening last a most enjoyable social was held in the Methodist Hall to bid farewell to Privates Mat and Allan Galloway, who were home on final leave. During the evening songs were rendered by Miss Edith Galloway and pianoforte solos by Miss Doris Kendall. The Rev Shade, in a few well chosen words, wished "the boys" God speed and hoped they would return in as good health as they were leaving. He advised them to be on their guard against the many evils which were always lurking where soldiers were concerned. He was proud that "the boys" were going to uphold the flag of the Motherland, he was also proud of their family, five having volunteered for service. Mr S. Hodge and Mr H. Farnsworth also spoke and wished the brothers all sorts of luck Supper was afterwards partaken of.
