A special meeting of the Road Board was held on Monday evening of last week to consider the tenders of the modified plan for the Public Hall when it was decided to give the contract to Messrs C. F. Hamon and Sons, their price being £2483. Not long ago Messrs Hamon and Sons erected the new works for Kempthorn Prosser & Co at Westfield
Pte Butterworth, reported wounded in action in France, is the brother of Mrs Haddock who resides in Coronation road, Papatoetoe. The choir of St John's Presby terian Church journeyed to Knox Home, West Tamaki, on Wednes day evening last and gave a concert for the benefit of the inmates. A first-class programme was preeented and was very much appreciated The choir rendered several anthems and glees whilst solos were contributed by Miss Galloway, Mrs McCulloch, Mr Jeans, and Mr Q. Foster. It is the intention of the choir to give a concert in aid of Red Cross funds early in July
