ALFRISTON DAIRY SUPPLIERS' MEETING A representative meeting cf milk suppliers met in the Al.'riston hall on Saturday, the K.th, to hear an address by Mr H. E. Pacey, managing director of the New Zealand Dairy Association. Mr F. M. Allen was voted to the chair. Mr Pacey gave an exhaustive report on the progress of the Association during the pa9t year, fully explaining the varied difficulties that had arisen. He pointed out that it was impossible at the present date to give a definite answer to the amount of bonus payable as the finality to the question rested in the question of getting the unprecedented amount of butter in cool storage shipped away, but the shareholders look forward to a handsome bonus in the event of the butter being shipped in a reasonable time.
Many and varied were the questions asked, some at least causing a cousiderable amount of discussion.
It was unanimously resolved that the chairman should forward a letter to the Prime Minister (the Rt. Hon W. F. Massey) asking him, in view of the serious position, to use his best endeavours to secure get the butter exported. It was further urged that at least butter should have precedence of lamb, as lamb was not required for military purposes Mr D. A. Reid proposed a hearty vote of thanks to Mr Pacey for his address and expressed the suppliers' appreciation that in spite of bad weather and bad roads Mr Pacey had fulfilled his appointment. The motion having been carried by acclamation, Mr Pacey briefly replied and moved the customary vote of thanks to the chair.
