Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sons report as follows : On Wednesday at our weekly Westfield fat stock market we penned fat cattle to the nua-ber of 392 head, comprising 210 steers, 176 cows and heifers, and six bulls. Competition was steady, but values were inclined to be easier. Choice ox sold to £2 7s 6d, prime £2 5s to £2 6s 6d, rough and ordinary beef £1 16s to £2 2s ; cows and heifers £2 2s to £2 ss; steers ranged in price from £ll to £l9 15s; cows and heifers £8 to £ls The highest averages for steers included 15 from Mr Geo Hull, Otaua, £l7 15s 2d ; 10 from Mr T. D. Reid, Eeid Park, Waiuku, £lB 10s 6d ; 16 from Mr Arch McNicol, Clevedon, £l7 4s 5d ; 8 from Mr E. Massey, Mangere, £l6 16s 3d; 20 from Awhitu,£ls 16s 6d; 11 from Mr Chas Bischoff, Waiuku, £ls 17s; 11 from Mr John Muir, sen., Mangere, £ls 3s 2d. Sheep came forward in about average numbers, and included several lines of unfinished wethers. There was a steady demand, with values much the same as last repo: t Extra heavy prime wethers made from £2 Is to £2 3s 3d ; heavy prime wethers £1 17s to £l 19s 9d, medium to heavy £1 13s 6d to £ I 16s Gd, light and unfinished £1 7s to £1 15s; bevt heavy prime ewes, £1 15s to £1 17s 9d; good prime ewes. £1 10i to £1 14s; other ewes 17s 6d to £1 8s; aged poor owes, 10s 6d to 17s (1516 sold). The few h-iibs which came forward were required, and met with a keen sale, especially piimo, prices advancing fully 5s head. Extia heavy prime lamb 3, £1 11a 6J to £1 15s Gd : good 6d: others, £1 2s to £1 5s (179 sold). We penned an average number of fat and young; calves, which sold at late values. Runners made from £6 12s Gd to £lO 12s Gd for a two-year-old heifer; heavy vealers, £5 2s to £6 2s Gd, medium £3 16s to £5, light £2 to £3 10s ; small and fresh-dropped, Gs to £1 16s, weak and weedy 3s; 85 sold. Tigs were yarded in full numbers. Bacouers wore a little easier. Porkers maintained lato i rices, and so res are dull of sale. Choppers made fiom £3 to £7 ss; heavy baconers, £3 18s to £1 15s; others, £3 5s to £3 15s; large porkers, £2 12s to £3 Is; medium, £2 2s to £2 10s; small, £1 8s to £2; slips, lis to £l 4s; weaners and suckers, Is to 10s, 298 .sold
