The «nnual meeting of the Pdpakura Town Board was held in the Library building on Thursday last. The balance-sheet showed receipts oa the general account amounting to £829 7s and the expenditure totalled £742 15s 101 leaving a balance at the Bank of £B6 1 Is 2d.
The Chairman (Mr R. M. Gillespie] presented the annual report which stated that when the present Board took office eight months ago the liabilities of the Board were £263 lis 7d, Which included £65 12s3d overdraft at the Bank. The rate had not been raised but expenditure had been kept down as low as possible. The Board had made by-laws covering a sanitary service, and h»i accepted a tender for night soil removal. The formation of a borough had been fully considered but the scheme was found impracticable at the present time. The sale yards question had caused a good deal of worry, but hopes were entertained of that matter being disposed of in the near future. The fixing of the street levels and the framing of bylaws necessary for the proper government of the district were well in hand.
The estimated receipts for the coming year were £836 lis 2d and the expenditure was provisionally allocated as follows: —Karaka bridge £SO, Old Stock road £3O, metal and scoria £169, Dominion road £25, printing, etc. £3O, lighting £35, Clerk £125, wages £2OO, Htinua bridge £l4O, extras £2l lis 2d.
