As the result of the recent continuous rains farming operations in the Pukekohe district are at a standstill. The first crops of early potatoes will accordingly be much later than usual in coming forward next season as not only is planting impossible for the present but the seed, when sown, will be retarded in growth by th 6 cold condition of the soil. The members of the Pukekohe Bowling Club were entertained last evening by their President (Mr F. Perkins) at a social held in the Premier Hall. Card games and musical items interspersed with various speeches served to provide thoroughly enjoyable recreation and Mr Perkins' generosity in acting as host for the occasion was made the subject of many complimentary remarks.
