People who do their own sou ing but dislike buttonholing, bring their garments to her for tho finishing, and even dressmakers occasionally send 111 bundles of various garments to bo buttonholed in a time of rush, and the woman finds herself occupied with making buttonholes in lino Ingorie, woollen dresses, motor (oats, and so on. She has regular charges, of course, and buys her buttonholo twist and thread in quantities, in standard colours, thus getting the matcr'als cheaper. A DRY SHAMPOO. If tho hair is very oily and frequent washing seems necessary, between the regular wot shampoos a dry shampoo siiould be used, consisting of oatmeal and 11 little powdered orris-root. Massage the scalp thoroughly and rub the powder over it. Then shake the powder thoroughly through the long hair, let it remain for half an hour and remove it by brushing. The split ends of ha'r should be dipped and singed from time to time, TO MAKE A TRAY. A tray for the dresser can be made out of an old unused picture frame with its glass intact, two handles, a piece of cretonne and some paint. Ghi3 a piece of figured cretonne to the back of the glass, put 011 handles to the end t v . the frame and then "bronze" or paint tue trav any colour preferred.
