Mr W. Duder proposed that Mr Bell should be re-elected chairman. This was seconded by Mr Walsh and carried unanimously. In reply, Mr Bell expressed his determination to do his best for the ratepayers. DRAINAGE BOARD ADVOCATED The question of clearing the oulverts in the district and keeping them free from gorse and other obstruction came up for discussion, and Mr Luke expressed the opinion that all the drainage throughout the area should be in the hands of a Drainage Board. He thought it would relieve the Board of the responsibility and the whole matter could then be dealt with by a separate Drainage Board. Mr Walsh agreed with Mr Luke, and the Clerk was authorised to obtain information relative to the steps to be taken for the formation of a Drainage Board for the district. AN ARDMOBE BEQUEST Mr C. R. Toung (Ardmore), wrote complaining of the state of the road from Mr H. Mullins' to the end of the Boarty boundary. It was pointed out that the public road appeared to be the outlet of Mr G. McCullough's surplus water which was creating a channel across the road. He stated that unless steps were taken to have the road remedied the condition was such as would make it dangerous for traffic. It was decided that the Chairman and Mr Walsh should inspect the channel and road and report. AN EMPLOYEE'S CLAIM Mr George Stacey wrote in reply to the Board's offer of compensation in respect of an accident he sustained whilst employed by the Board that he was not inclined to accept the sum of £9 offered as compensation. The Clark stated that he had supplied the Insurance Company with a medical certificate but a further medical certificate would be required if a larger claim were made by Mr Stacey. It was arranged to communicate with Mr Stacey and to advise him to obtain a further medical certificate. ranger's report The Ranger (Mr J. A. Clarke) presented his report for the quarter ended 30th April last, which showed that 47 cows, 5 calves and 13 horses had been impounded during the period named. WAIROA SOUTH Mr Walsh was authorised to obtain three loads of spawl metal to repair culvert near the Wairoa South school. * BROOKBY ROAD The retention of this road for traffic was the subject of an informal discussion and it was considered that the Board should keep the road open for horse traffic as it proved a general convenience to the Clevedon district. It was decided to leave the matter in the hands of the Chairman to do what he thought best in the interests of the district. ACCOUNTS Accounts amounting to £145 were passed for payment.
