PUKEKOHE'S MAYOR.
Mr H. G. R. Mason, who has just entered on his second term of office as Mayor of Pukekohe, was born at Wellington on June 3rd, 1885. He was first educated at Clyde Quay school, Wellington, then at Wellington College, and at Victoria (University) College. He won numerous (6) scholarships including a Victoria Scholarship, and was head of the School at Wellington College in 1902. He graduated B.A. in 1905 and M.A (with Honours) in mathematics and mathematical physics) in 1906. Mr Mason qualified as a solicitor in 1908 and barrister, with LL B. degree, in 1909. He served as articled clerk and subsequently as managing clerk to Messrs Kirk and Wilson, solicitors, of Wellington, and then acted as
managingiclerk to]Messrs'Wake*and Cow, solicitors, of Eltham, Taranaki. He commenced legal practice in Pukekohe on his own account in January, 1911. Mr Mason was married in December, 1912.' He is a prominent member of the English Church community in Pukekohe. During the past two years of his mayoralty Mr Mason was responsible for the Council adopting a "forward" policy and the electors have now expressed their appreciation of the same by enabling him to again hold the reins of office so that he may see completed the important schemes of electric lighting, improved water supply, and roading improvements he initiated.
