CANADA'S PRACTICAL PATRIOTISM.
The Canadians have a wonderful organisation whereby money is coming : n regularly for Patriotic Work. A couple of months ago t.lio City of Ottawa sot out to rai.e £IOO.OOO to support the families of the soldiers who have gone to toe front. It was taken tip unanimously, and everyone made arrangements to have a deduction made each month from hi.s salary for this purpose. Tn one small e'ty v,lore the pay-roil amounted to CIOO.OOO per month, a public meeting was held, and every workman pledged hiimo'f lo contribut; one per cent, of his wages each month towards the Patriotic Fund. Many other cities have adopted the same idea, and in this way money is coming in regularly, tuns enabling th to apportion out fund? for various branches of tlm work. Not only nr> al] the Canadian solders, their families and dependents well cared for, hut Canada has furnished assistance to the Serbian*, to the Montenegrins, and r.> tho French, and even the British C.ovcrnment has drawn en their supplies.
