EAST TAMAKI.
A farewell social was tendered by the residents of East Tamaki in the Public Hall on Wednesday last to Messrs H Barbstock, £ Stancombe and W Brown, who are leaving for the front. A large number gathered to bid adieu to "the boys" and a most enjoyable evening was spent, Mr W Brown, in a very cheery speech, presented each of the three soldiers with money belts and knives. Mrs Bellingham also handed -each of them a parcel of woollen goods on behalf of the ladies. Items were rendered by Mr Alan McElevain, who was in great form and caused roars of laughter. Solos were contributed by Miss Daieley and Mr 8 Steel. Dancing was engaged in until the early hours. Messrs Whyte and Murphy supplied the music. The proceedings concluded with the singing of the National Anthem.
