A JOURNALIST FAREWELLED.
The forthcoming departure for the training camp of Mr T. E. McMillan, Editor of the " Waiuku News " nnd formally a member of the " Pukekohe Times" staff, was referred to at the meeting of the Frankling County Council last Thursday. Cr Renall paid a high tribute to Mr McMillan's journalistic ability and hoped they would see him back after the war. Crs Higginson, Lockwood and Lyons all endorsed the sentiments expressed by Cr Renall. The Chairman (Cr Flanagan) also testified to Mr McMillan's good services and remarked that he was now about to enter upon his crowning duty—that of serving his country —to fight for it and might be die for it. Replying, Mr McMillan expressed his appreciation of the good wishes extended to him and said he was pleased that his efforts had given satisfaction. Subsequently, by invitation of the Councillors, Mr McMillan was enentertained at luncheon at the Pukekohe Hotel and was presented with a handsome pipe, accompanied by the good wishes of all the Councillors.
