Mr Bathe is also authorised to receive advts. and printing orders on our behalf."] Attention is drawn to a notice appearing in our advertising columns of Mr A. Carter's Premier Fish Mart. Besides supplies of fresh and smoked fish coming to hand daily to the advantage of local residents Mr Carter serves morning and afternoon teas, as also hot fish meals at any hour. His enterprise deserves support. Messrs F. R. Field, J. Brady, E. Wyatt, T. R. M. Hashp, A. G. Cooke, T. Weal, H, Vfoffit, and H. V. 8. Stringer return thanks to the electors in a joint notice appearing in our advertising columns for the support accorded them at the Borough Council election last week. A photo of Otahuhu's new Mayor (Mr A. McDonald) will appear in our issue of Friday next. For a letter to cover the distance of 22 miles between Pukekohe and Otahuhu takes an almost equal number of hours as instanced in correspondence of late that has been posted at Pukekohe for the afternoon mail at 5 p.m. and not reaching Otahuhu until 2 p.m the following day. The delay is evidently caused by the failure at the G P.O. in Auckland to sort mails arriving in 1 the evening in time for despatch by the early morning trains. The management of this paper have communicated with the Postal Department and have put forward the request that as with Papakura, Papatoetoe and other places, there should be direct postal communication between Pukekohe and Otahuhu instead of correspondence going through Auckland. There is to be a Gift Social at the Baptist Church to-morrow (Wednesday) when various games will be indulged in and a programme of musical items will be rendered. Whilst schooling a young horse in a paddock at Otahuhu recently Mr Richard Anderson had the misfortune to have his collar bone fractured. Owing to the breaking of some of the gear Mr Anderson was heavily thrown and sustained injuries as chronicled. We are pleased to report that he is now progressing favourably towards recovery. . The statutory meeting of the Otahuhu Borough Council i 9 to be held to-morrow (Wednesday) evening when the new Mayor (Mr A, McDonald) will be installed and the various Committees appointed. HOUSEHOLDERS' MEETING. There was an attendance of nearly 100 at the annual meeting of householders held last evening. A ballot for membership of the School Committee resulted in the electien of Messrs E. West, D. Clarkson, E Curry, W. J. Moffatt, J. Hunter, G. Kemplay, F. Arnold, I Henry and J. Nodwell. Messrs E. Wyatt, J. Wilson, and W. J. O'Hara being the unsuccessful candidates. The overcrowding of the school was referred to and it was suggested 1 that some representation should be ' made to the Education Board in order ' to secure provision for more accommodation. It was reported that there were 492 pupils on the school roll with an average attendance (for April) of 448. At a meeting of the Committee held subsequent to the Householders' meeting Messrs E. West and G. Kemplay were re elected chairman and secretary respectively. ♦
