MERCER.

A new arrival in the district caused alarm in the Maori encampment at Mercer on Wednesday by his wild behaviour and in the temporary absence of Constable Hora n he was secured by some civilians and ultimately taken through to the Pukekohe Police Station Yesterday he appeared at Pukekohe before Mr R V. Frazer S.M. on a charge of drunkenness and his appearance gave indication that alcohol was well ingrained into his system. Constable Miller made mention of the fact that the man had constant visions of tanks, processions and snakes so the Magistrate remanded him for a week for medical treatment, the defendant admitting that he had been having a big ''spree" in Auckland and that he did not know why he had made his way to Mercer.
