The German flag no longer fl'es And flutters under tropic ekies; And all my wles in Southern sens I am bereft of, if you please! How gladly would I welcome peace, Whereby my people's woes might cease. Bethmann-Hollweg: .All-H'ghett, do not weakness show; You proffered peace before, you know, But 'twould be foolish to deny The terms were made a tr.fle high— That is, the terms the German press Fublisned m entail, more or less. Suppose The neutrals all were changed to foes; Could vou not tnen with truth declare The odds against you were not lair \nd that vou were prepared to make Peace for your suffering pe°P lc » sake The Kaiser: I think I see your point. You moan-? Bethmann-Hollweg: The ruthless us? of the submarine.
