The Fukokohe police have been investigating a case of house-break-ing which occurred at the residence of Mrs Fischer in Princess Street on Friday, the 16th inst. Whilst the occupants of the house were shopping in the town that ev>ningtho dwelling was entered by means of the back-door, which had been left unlocked, and the intruders made a haul of a couple of brooches an 1 « f a purse containing £'2 in cash, the purse being taken from Mrs Fi chor's handbag A search made by the police resulted in the discovery of ihe brooches in th« garden in a (O (litit.n that iu licated they had been wilfully stamped upon whilst the purse, the contents of which had been abstracted, was also found and had been slashed about with a knife.
