TUAKAU
Mr J. C. Tregurtha, accountant, of Palmerston North, who was killed whilst cycling by colliding with a train at Longburn last Thursday, was a brother-in-law of Mr A. H. Tapper, the much respected clerk to the'Tuakau Town Board. When about to cross tho Manawatu railway lino the deceased heard a train coming and mistook it for the Foxton train on the other lino. The result was that he was struck by tho Main Trunk express and died later at the hospital. By a strange coincident the deceased lost his foot as the result of a railway accident many years ago. He was about 37 years of age and loaves a widow three sons and one daughter to mourn their loss. A special meeting of the Town Board will be held this (Tuesday) evening to consider loan matters and the proposed new bydaws. Every preparation is being made for the Monster Patriotic gala and sports to be held on Saturday next. (iiven fine weather the event should attract a large number of spectators. •
