MERCER.
There w as a large and appreciative audience at the concert held last Saturday evening at the Public H».ll in aid of the Belgian Fund. Mercer is not slow to respond to the claims ou behalf of the Belgians and it is gratifying to the committee that the response was so encouraging. The chairman, Mr W. W. Ridgley, made an appropriate speech on behalf of the Fund and thanked the audience for their attendance. The following was the programme: Pianoforte solo, Mrs Ingram, F.S M.; song, Miss Denize; song, "There's a Land," Mr F. S. Dawson ; song, Miss Valentine ; humorous musical monologue, Mr Bert Le Roy; duet Noc turne, Mrs Axford and Miss Denize ; song, Mr A. C. Tribe; marching song (Maughan Barnett), Mr Thos. Culpan ; pianoforte duet, the Misses Ridgley; song, Mrs Gillibrand; humorous sketch, Mr Bert Le Roy ; pianoforte solo, Mrs Ingram, F.S.M.; song, Miss Denize; seranade (Gourod), Mrs Axford ; song, " When the boys come home" (audience joined in chorus); song Mr Bartrum; song (2), Miss Fowke. The National Anthem was sung at the close, after which the hall was cleared for dancing.
