KARAKA ROAD BO AD

MONTHLY MEETING. The monthly meeting of the Karaka Road Board was held on Saturday last when there were present Messrs J. Batty (chairman), J. Schlaepfer and D. Jamieson with the clerk (Mr H. E. Glasson). ENGINEER'S EXPEXSEB. The clerk reported that the offer of £32 10s made hy the Board in respect of the engineer's (Mr Moore's) expenses had been accepted. A CItEEK OBSTRUCTION. Mrs Davis, the owner of property on the Faerata - Runciman road, waited on the Board and complained that the creek adjoining her farm was blocked by the willows having been cut and left in the creek. After hearing Mrs Davis it was decided that Mr VV. Blanchard the adjacent owner, should be requested to clear his portion of the creek so as to enable the water to run freely. PROPOSED NEW KOAD. Mr Jamieson reported that, as the owners (Messrs Jamieson and Parkinson) of the land on the western side of the Paerata station had agreed to give land to enable a new road to be formed that fact bad been communicated to the chairman of the County Council who expressed himself as favourable to the suggested deviation being carried out. It was resolved that Mr Jamieson should make the best arrangements he could with the County Council for the work to be carried out. ELLIS HILL. With regard to the charing out of the water table and the formation of work on Ellis Hill, Mr Jamieson was authorised to engage such labour and have the work done as he thought necessary. OLASSON's CREEK BRIDGE. The chairman reported that the work done to this bridge by the Cuunty Council's workman was far from satisfactory and at present it was in a somewhat dangeious state although four hours good work would be sufficient to make it temporarily secure. It was decided to write the County Council on the subject. THE NIGHT-SOIL DEPOT. It was reported that further application had been made by Mr H. J Hawkins for permission to cart the night-soil to a new site adjoining the Paerata station In order to test the feeling of ratepayers on the matter it was resolved to hold a meeting of ratepayers at Paerata on Tuesday of next week at 7.30, Mr Schlaepfer offering the use of his barn for the purpose. BANK OVERDRAFT. On the motion of Mr Batty, seconded by Mr Jamieson, a resolution was formally passed making application to the Board's Bankers for the necessary overdraft.
