In the name of the Lady Liverpool League Mr Allan presented Private Johnson with a parcel of comforts. The following contributed items during the evening, viz, Mr E. Piggott (speech) Miss R. After supper had been handed round, dancing was indulged in until midnight, During tho evening Mr Allan referred to the coming doparture of Miss G. L. Johnston, who was shortly leaving lor Hamilton and spoke in eulogistic terms of the manner in which she had worked on the Patriotic Entertainment Committee and carried out the duties of secretary. He moved a vote of thanks to her, which was carried by acclamation. Miss A. Avery was chosen to take Miss Johnston s place on the Committee. On Friday evening the Buckland Old Girls' Association gave Miss Johnston a surprise party, tho same taking the form of a haudkerchief evening and a very pleasant time was spent in games etc. Owing to the moist weather there is a good growth of grass and in many cases the milk returns are slightly increasing, which is quite unusual for this time of tho year. As clovor has flowered so freely tliia season the boes have been very busy and our local aparist, Mr G. Hill, is well satisfied with his returns of honoy. During the recent floods the School bathing-shed was washed down the stream and tho School Committee have beeu busy lately gathering up the fragments.
