PAPATOETOE
[The Papatoetoe Agent for the " Pukekohe Times " is Mr W. J. Dilworth from whom copies of the paper may be obtained.] On Wednesday last a most enjoyable social was held in the East Tamaki hall to bid farewell to several of " our boys," who are leaving for the front. Dancing was engaged in until the wee sma' hours of the morning and everyone went home quite satisfied that they had had a most enjoyable time. Music was supplied by Mr James White's orchestra. Mr S. Fulton, who has volunteered for active service leaves for camp today (Tuesday), Perhaps there is no better-known man than the amiable " Bunny " who has been a resident of the district since childhood. An old Papatoetoe scho jlboy, and member of the tennis club since its formation, for several years he has been secretary of S. John's Presbyterian Church, and was the recipient of a handsome silver wristlet watch from the manager's court of S. John's. Other restdents who are leaving this week are Henry Baver.-stoi k, an old resident of East Tamaki, and George Parker, lately engaged in farming pursuits with the Dilworth Trust Agricultural College. On Sunday last (4th) at S. John's Presbyterian Church, the Rev Chas. Porter preached two stirring sermons on '' the wastage of war," and he dealt with his subject in a very able manner. Solos wore sung in the morning by Mr Geo. luster, and in the evening by Mr W. J. Dilworth. Ou Sunday next the Anniversary services in connection with the Papatoetoe Methodist Church will bo held. Special singing will bo rendered by the school children and choir under the conductorship of Mr G. Foster. The preachers will be, 11 am. and ■'> p.m., Rov P. P. Parish and 7 p m, Rev W. G. Slade. Extensive alteration are about to be made to the business premises of Messrs S. E. Moe & Co., motor garrage proprietors and engineers, as spacious show rooms are to be addod to the already large building. When completod this will be one of the most up-to-date garages in the Auckland provinco. Residents of the district will bo pleased to learn that the new addi-
| tions to the Public School are almo.-t i completed. The overciowding has been a much vexed question with the parents of the children for the past three } oars and the present committee "are to be highly congratulated in the success of their labours in woiking for the welfare of the children. A match for the Clow Challenge Shield was played on the Papatoetoe Bowling Green on Saturday last between the holders and another local team and resulted in a win for tho challengers.
