SOLDIERS FAREWELLED
At the Puni Hall on "Wednesday last there was a crowded gathering on the occasion of a farewell social and dance given in honour of Pte J. Adams, of Puni. Lance-Corporal W. H. Hawke and Private A. Cook were also present by invitation. » An excellent programme of musical -items was rendered, to which Messrs W. T. Jones, Heron and Miss Annie McSheen contributed. Mr H. Gribble also gave a recitation. During the interval an opportunity was taken of presenting gifts to the guests. Mr R Fulton made the presentations in some well chosen words wishing " the boys '' good luck and a safe return. The gifts consisted of a money belt to Pte Adams and cigarette holders to Lance Corpl. Hawke and Pte A. Cook.
An enjojable dance kept tho company merry until the early hours of the morning, Mr J. Wright proving an efficient MC. Among those who played the accompaniments at the dance or social were the Patumahoe Orchestra {Messrs W. Howard, Plydell, Fausett and Hunter), Mr and Mrs E. Fausett, Mr Davidson and the Misses Aldridge, Bailey aud O'Connor (2).
