PAPATOETOE
[ The Papatoetoe Agent for the " Pukekohe Times " is Mr W. J. Dilworth from whom copies of the paper may be obtained.] Some desirable farms in the Papatoetoe district are advertised in this issue for sale by private treaty by Messrs H. Dell & Son, Pukekohe, in conjunction with Mr W. J. Dilworth, of Papatoetoe. We regret to chronicle the deaths of three most esteemed citizens of Papatoetse, which have taken place during the last fortnignt, viz., Mrs Swaffield, Mr J. T. Joynt and Mr J. T. Cossey. Mr Joynt was one of the pioneer business men of Papatoetoe. He started business as a grocer on the Great South Road and after carrying on for some time retired and went in for farming at Wiri.
A great many improvements are taking place in the district at present. The footpaths and roads are receiving considerable attention, curbing and channelling being done to Station Road and reforming work is in progress on Tamaki and Kolmar Boads. The formation of the footpath from the Papatoetoe School to Moyle's corner has been authorised and will be gone on with very shortly. This has been a much felt want in the district and will be greatly appreciated by the school children and by bowlers.
Mrs May, the esteemed choir mistress of St John's Church has left the district and Mr George Foster has been appointed in her stead in charge of the baton. The choir has been very fortunate in securing the services of Mr Foster, who is a man of wide experience in the musical world. As a chorister boy in England at the age of seven years he made a name for himself and ever since has been in touch with the work.
