A farewell social was tendered to Mr E. Hi lam, tho local schoolmaster, on Thursday evening of last weok, ou tho ovo of his doparturo for Trentham. There was a large attendance. Mr T. J. Lock wood, on behalf of tho residents, presented Mr Llillam with a safety razor outfit. Mr llillam suitably replied. Dancing was kept up until the early hours of tho morning. A farewell social is to be givon to Mr A. Martin, who is homo on final leave, this (Friday) ovoning. Tho Anniversary of tho local Suuday School took place last bunday. There was a fair attendance. The scholars sung npocial hymns. Mr E. A. McConnel conducted. Mr Cox preachod a very appropriate sermon, his tost being " Stand Yo Steadfast."
