On the motion of Cr Lyons seconded by Cr Henry, it was decided that the tax for dogs be the same as last year and that the arrangements relative to the collars be left in the hands of the clerk and the members of the respective ridings. WAR SEQUEL. An application by the contractor carrying out Pratt's Hill Deviation for a ten per cent war bonus to meet the increased cost of labour etc., was referred to the chairman and engineer for consideration. PENDERGRVST HILL, POKENO.

Cr Lyons asked that the work on this road should be attended to and he explained that it was too small a job for which to call for tenders. On the motion of CrHi.ginson seconded by Cr Wood, it was agreed to empower the engineer to have this work carried out. ROAD 3 TAKES OVER. On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Cr Henry, it was resolved to accede to the request of Karaka ratepayers for the road leading from Papakura to Waiau via the new bridges and the road leading from Pukekohe to Papakura via Paerata station and Earaka School to be declared County roads. kahaka's new briuoes. It was resolved that the £2OO should be paid to the Earaka Road Board out of the General Fund until a Special Rating Area was formed to raise the projected loan. MANUKAU HARBOUR WHARVES. Or Renall reported that meetings of ratepayers had been held at different centres in his (Awhitu) riding in regard to Manukau Harbour Wharves and with one exception, viz., at Waipipi, resolutions had been passed in favour of the wharves i remaining under the control of the Council instead of them being handed over to the Harbour Board. Such resolutions referred to Kohe Kobe, Pollok, Awhitu, Graham's Beach and Orua Bay wharves. In the case of Waipipi he was unable to attend the second meeting held there and he thought the position had not been properly understood. It was, however, for the Council to say what should be done and inasmuch as a good deal of money had been recently spent on improving the wharves and making them serviceable for some years to come he ad* vocated that all should remain under the Council, particularly as such was the wish of a large majority of the ratepayers of the riding. The decision of the meeting held at Waipipi was communicated to the Council in a letter read from Mr H. Furniss.

On the motion of the chairman, seconded by Or, Lockwood it was decided to retain possession of all the wharves in the Awhitu riding. A suggestion by Cr Renall that wooden rails for Tramway use should be laid on the Graham's Beach, Awhitu and Orua Bay wharves was adopted. A KOHE KOHE DEVIATION. The engineer was instructed, on Cr RenalFs application, to report as to the carrying out of Ashworth's Deviation, Kohe Kohe, Cr Renall remarking that if money was not for the present available for the same he would be able to arrange for it. ROAD CONSTRUCTION. Cr Henry reported that application had been made to him for the Council to take in hand the formation and culverting of that portion of tne Tramway road leading to the beach from its junction with the Waiuku-Drury road. He added that he had been informed by Mr Wyman (Glenbrook) that the Crown Lands Office had a sum of £SOO in reserve for the work. It was decided to obtain information as to whether or not the £SOO referred to was available. Engineer's Report.
