PAPAKURA.
THE REHRING SCHOOLMASTER. The committee appointed to arrange a presentation to Mr D. W. Jones, the retiring schoolmaster, met on Friday last. Those present wore Mr 8. Evans (chairman), Rev. W. C.Wood (Vicar), Messrs W. McLean, E. D. McLennan, L. J. Mills, D. B. Stewart, J. Whitaker, A. Willis, J. Woodhouse, with the hon. secretary (Mr G. Hardy). Mr R. M. Gillespie wrote apologising for absence. The presentation is to take the form of an illuminated address, and it was decided that the signatures attached thereto should be those of the chairman and secretary of the School Committee, together with Messrs E. D. McLennan, R. Willis, -Rev. W. C. Wood and D. B. Stewart.
It was agreed to make the presentation at the school grounds on Wednesday, February 14 th, at 2.30 p.m The address, which is on view at Messrs Willis Bros', and is of an
highly artistic character, reads as follows: "To D. W. Jones, Esq,— On the occasion of your retirement from the position of Headmaster of the Papakura Public State School we desire on behalf of the residents
of Papakura School District to ex press our appreciation and gra'itude for your services to our children during the past 18 years. You have held that position long enough to see the results of your teaching in the many who have passed through your school and entered upon their various vocations in life. Your occupancy of the office has been marked with ability, devotion and success, and, whilst regretting that you have ceased work at the school, we trust you will be spared to continue your help in other ways amongst in and- enjoy many years of health and happiness. We beg, Dear Sir, to subscribe ourselves on behalf of the residents."
