BOMBAY.
AN EXCITING EPISODE.' Visions of a German raid or of a rebellion on the part of the Maoris were conjured up a few days ago at certain homestead near Bombay when the whizzing of flying bullets around the house occasioned alarm, one indeed passing, it is stated, in vary close proxiirity to a child. It, however, was found that a shooting practice by the local Senior Cadets was responsible for the unusual experience. The acting Sergeant Instructor, it appoared, had permitted the .•shooting on a neighbouring farm that he considered was at a safe distance from habitations, but richocheting bullets had gone unexpectedly wide. Instructions have now been given by Warrant Officer Hatt by which firing will be limited to an ■ improvised range where shooting has been and can be carried out in porfect safety.
