STOCK SALE REPORT.
Messrs Alfred Buckland and Sous report : We held our bi-monthly horse sale in the Pukekohe Horse Bazaar on Monday. The advertised number came forward, and as at the Haymarket on the Friday previous there was a stronger demand, with the result that the greater number changed owners. Medium to heavy unbroken colts aud fillies, £l6 to £24 ; lighter, £lO 10s to £lss 10s; light, £5 to £lO. The 25 uubroken colts and fillies from Te Akau made from £8 to £22 10s: waggon horses and heavy draughts, £2B to £35 ; medium to hoavy spring-cart horses, £lB to £27; lighter sorts, £lO to £l6; hacks and light harness horsos, £8 10s to £2l ; Shetland ponies, £9 10s to £l3; weeds £lO to £2 ; buggy, £l4 10s; gig, £22 ; harness, £4 5s to £7. On Wednesday, at our weekly Westlield fat stock market, the supply of fat cattle totalled 317 head, comprising 201 steers, 112 cows, and heifers, and 1 bulls. A number of the consignments of ox beef were of excellent quality. There was a strong demand and, and generally atoer beef advanced fully 10s a head. Cow and heifer sold at late rates. Choice ox sold £2 10s, prime £2 8s to £2 9s 6d per 1001b; ordinary and rough beef, £1 16s to £2 ss; cow and heifer, £l l*s to £2 7s Steers ranged in pricu from £9 17s 0d to £2S 12s 6d. Cows and heifers £» 10s to £ls 15a. The highest averages for steers included; 8 from Mr Goo. Hull, (Jtaua, £2l ; 8 from Mr W. Wright, Otaua, £2O 15s: 14 from Mr H. E. Eeed, Waerenga, £2O ss; 8 from Mr C. G. Eobertsou, Otaua, £l9 Is 3s; 20 from Mr A. Muir, junr,, Takauini, £lB 4s 7d. Sheep again came
forward in large numbers. Th'ie was a good demand for all classes, and the whole values were similar to last report. Extra heavy prime wethers £1 18s to £2 0s 3d, heavy prime wethers ±1 16s to£l 17s 9d, light to heavy £1 14s fid to £1 15s 9J, unfinished £1 10s to £1 14s, best heavy prime ewes £1 14s to £1 17s 9d, good ewes £1 lis to £1 13s 9d, other ewes £1 3s to £1 10s, hoggets £1 7s to £l 13s 9d. (1681 sheep were sold). Lambs were penned in record numbers, and included only a small percentage of prime, the greater portion being unfinished. Values for all descriptions were on a par with recent sales. Heavy prime £1 7s to £1 lis, good £l4B to £1 6s 9d, light and unfinished 18s 9d to £1 4s. (1376 sold). Fat and young calves were penned in average numbers and sold freely at late prices* Fresh-dropped calves were in strong demand. Eunners made from £7 17s 6d to £l2 7s 6d, heavy vealers £5 17s 6d to £7 10s, medium £3 10s to £5 15s, light £2 5s to £3 7s 6d, small and fresh dropped 12s to £2. (65 sold). We yarded pigs in smaller numbers than usual, and they showed an improvement in prices with the exception of weaners. Heavy baconers sold from £3 5 8 to £3 14s, small £2 18s to £3 3s, large porkers £2 7s to £2 17s, others £l 16s to £2 6s, slips £1 4s to'£l 15s, \veaners7s to £1 Is. (175 sold).
