At the invitation of Mr and Mrs J. M Baxter about sixty of their friends were present at an At-Home held last evening in the Carnival Tea Rooms, Pukekohe, to mark the safe return from the held of battle of thoir son, Lieut. \V. J. Baxter, of the N.Z. Field Artillery. Kindly words of welcome were spoken by Messrs C. K. Lawrie, D. H. Hamilton and R. Dynes Fulton, and the young officer modestly replied, detailing some of his experiences both at Gallipoli and in France. Mr J. M. Baxter also expressed his indebtedness to the gathering for their attendance. Dainty refreshments were served by the lady proprietors of the Tea Rooms, and musical items wore rendered by Mrs James Wiley, Mis'* Webb, Miss Williams, Messrs L. Wilson aud Jack Brown, a very enjoyable evening being spent.
