UNIVERSITY AND SCHOLARSHIP EXAMINATIONS.
Local Successes Among the successful students who sat for the University of New Zealand examinations last month is A. A. French, of Bombay, who pßssed both in his matriculation and solicitor's general knowledge examinations. He received his primary education at the Bombay public school and afterwards entered the the Pukekohe High School. Miss Freeman, his teacher at Pukekohe, deserves credit for coaching him for the examination. In the list of successful candidates at the recent junior national scholarship examinations appears the name of Joyce G. Zinzan, daughter of Mr and Mrs L. V. Zinzan, of Mauku, who scored 562 marks, 62i per cant marks out.of a maximum of 800 being required "to pass." Of 67 successful candidates Miss Zinzan had the distinction of occupying sixteenth place in the order of merit. She was a pupil at the Pukekohe District High School. Othor successful competitors ior Junior National Scholarships were Samuel M. Rapson, Whangarata public school, with 603 marks, and Eunice M. Dreadon, Manurewa public school, with 534 marks. In the same examination, for candidates who had not during the two years ended December Ist last been in attendance at school for more than three months, 52 J- per cent marks out of a maximum 800 being required for success, Grace D. Sargood, a pupil at Gleubrook public school, gainod 474 marks.
