PAPAKURA
(See also page 4 ) A large party of 175 children and adults took advantage of the Excursion to Devon port arranged by the school committee on Wednesday last. Leaving by a special train at 8 38 they reached Devonport in good time Motor buses were hired and the party proceeded to Cheltenham Beach. Bathing and other amusements served to pass a very enjoyable time, dinner and tea being provided. The members of the school committee who accompanied the party were Messrs C. S. Evans, Woodhouse, Andrews, Mills, Whitaker, J. Walker, W. Crichton, with the secretary Mr G. Harding. The return journey was made by a special train, Papakura being safely reached at 7.10 p.m. The committee and secretary are to be congratulated on the successful arrangements made for such a pleasant outing. The quarterly meeting of the Papakura Methodist Church was held recently, the Rev. \V. S. Potter presiding. Mr W. S. Evans was elected representative to' conference and Mr W. Richardson vice-representa-tive. Mrs Brodie was recommended for admission to the Deaconess' Home for training for Foreign Mission work. Messrs C. S. Evans and 11. V Burton were appointed Circuit Stewards. It was reported that the membership and financial position of the Circuit were both satisfactory. The Rev. H. Daniels, of Whangarei, has been invited to succeed the Rev W. 8. Potter, who leaves Papakura in April next.
