The Puni Public Hall.
[TO THE EDITOR.]
Sir,—May I ask you to give me a little further space in regard to the correspondence appearing in your paper re the Puni Hall. The stranger referred to by "Anti- Humbug" can indeed speak for himself; he has informed at least two of the committee that he had no right to vote at the meeting. The youth referred to was not asked by me to vote; he nevertheless represented a family of subscribers, and if he was ineligible by his apparent youth, why was a card given him to vote ?
The debts " Anti - Humbug " referred to are my responsibility alone, over which the Committee have no control. The insinuation he referred to was not contained in my letter, and I would like to know how any one of ordinary intelligence could arrive at that conclusion.
"Anti-Humbug" in conclusion says that my interest in the Hall was to demand £2O for my section. His interest in the Hall at that time could not have been very great, or he would have been conversant with my offer; this statement is absolutely incorrect. Does "Anti-Humbug's" position debar him the honour of signing his name, or is he really only Anti Humbug ? Mr Harvie states that I wish to stir up trouble and he infers that lam not a "sport." As I was born and brought up in the district, and have been known by the public much longer than by Mr Harvie I leave it to them to judge. In conclusion I may state that my interest in the erection of a Hall for the district, unlike Mr Harvie's, isconsiderabie and as he wishes the facts to become public property I hope in the near future to be able to place them before the public, and I will willingly abide by their decision. Yours, &•, B. FULTON, Puni.
