RAMA RAMA.
A PLOT THAT FAILED.
A worthy local couple, who recently were united in the bonds of matrimony, were signalled out one evening last week for a public ex° pression of congratulation in the form of an intended seranade by a tin-can brigade. The appliances for that form of music (?) were duly secured and were " planted " when dusk fell within oasy distance of the house to be visited. Two or three hours later Drum-Major "Dan" duly marshalled his confederates and the calvacade silently and stealthily journeyed along the rßad, the burly " Dan " jauntily heading the procession. When the spot was reached where " the instruments " had beer deposited consternation, however, reigned supreme for no sign of a tin. can was visible. Emerging from a hiding-place near at hand, Mr anc Mrs laughingly explained
hat getting wind of the " honour" proposed to be accorded them and lot desiring orchestral selections ;hey had commandeered the band's property. The joke was thus at the expense of the invaders but their disappointment was taken in good part although unfortunately the unwelcome newa was also communicated to them that the hour being late and opportunity not having been given for the wine-cellar to have been stocked the customary convivial cele* brations would have to be postponed* Then "Dan" and his merry men wended their way homewards on a compact being arrived at that they would be welcome guests at a housewarming at a later date subject to tin-cau methods being barred.
