"DON'T WORRY."
Philosophy of the French
Soldier.
This is t>e Litany of the French soldier, as set forth by Miss Kathleen Burke in "Land and Water":— Of things one is certs'; : Either jou're in .oilised or you'r. not mobilised.
If you're not mobilised there is no re'd to worry; if you a-e mobilised, of two things one fs certain: Ei'her you're behind the lines or you're on the front. If yoi're behind the lines there is cu ne.d to worrj ; if you're on the front, of two things one is c?rt.iin: Either yru're resting in a safe place or you're exposed to danger. If you're r sting in a safe place there is no need to worry; if you're exposed to danger, of two things one :a certain: Either you're wounded or y u're not wounded. If you're not wounded there is no n<-ed to wcrry; if you are wounded, of two thingn rne is certain: Either you're wourded seriously or you're wounded slightly. It you're wounded slmhtly tlrre is no need to worry; if you're wounded seriously, of two tbinge one is certain: Either vou recover or you di°. If you recover there is no need to worry; if vou die you can't worry.
