The Pukekohe Borough Council is to hold a special meeting next Wednesday for the purpose of dealing ■with tenders for the supply of plant for the electric light installation. The vital statistics for the Pukekohe Registrar's district form interesting reading, as against 30 births for the quarter ending December 31st last, and a total of 140 for the year, there were only live deaths in ' the quarter and 31 in the year. The undesirable individual, by name Edgar Hodgson, who was last week arrested in Fukekohe while wandering round the town in a diunken state and endeavouring to secure blank cheques which he proposed to aign in to get theiii etched, appeared on remand at a J.P.'a Court yesterday on a charge of vagrancy. Lowan explained that after a series ot offences, all committed whilst he was in drink, the accused was declared an habitual criminal in 1913 und was only released on license bv the Prisons Board last year. The terms of hn parole having been broken, the Sergeant asked that tbe accused should be sent back to Mount Eden gaol fur some term and he added that the same would entail him being again indefinitely detained as an hahitual criminal.
