DRURY
At the last meeting of the Ladies' Patriotic League a good attendance lesulted. The secretary was instructed to write a letter of condolence to Mrs Flanagan in her recent sad bereavement. The afternoon tea was provided by Mrs Glasson. Fourteen Dominion Gifts were contributed to the League and 60 articles were handed in as under :—Socks : Mrs Strong, 9 pairs; Mesdames Barclay, McMurtrie, W. Bremner, 4 pairs each ; Mesdames Glasson, sen., Wall, Flanagan, 3 pairs each ; Mrs John Blake, Misses Barnes, Appleby, Dixon, McPherson, 2 pairs each; Mesdames Lodge, W. Glasson, Hewlett, Smalltield, Fyfe, Misses Bernand, Gird wood, McNaughtm, Smalltield, 1 pair each. Mrs J. Dickson 4 Balaclava caps and 2 hospital caps. Mrs McNaughton 1 scarf. Miss Glasson 3 face cloths. Donation - Mrs D. Bremner 1 pair socks.
The last meeting for the year was celebrated recently by the Drury Band of Hope, when a good programme was given by the members for the amusement and instruction of visiting friends. This live society chiefly owes its vitality to the activities of Mr 8. Fielding, the energetic secretary, and Miss A. Dixon, organiser and instructor
Haymaking is now the order of day in Drury. Crops are very prolific, and given good weather will be well saved.
