Ia connection witli the visit of the old vtterans to Tuaksu last Saturday on the occasion of the unveiling of the memorial to fallen soldier, Mr Dynes Fulton has receivrd the following letter from Capt. Jas. Stichbury, Hon Secretary to the King's Empre Veteran?, viz.: "On behalf of the rfficers and members of the King's Empire Veterans I to thank you, the ladies, and townsfollc gererally, for your great kindness in entertaining, providing conveyances and generally making our outing a pleasant one. We were provided by Providence with a tine day, which enabled ub to admire the beauties ot your town, and al*o the lonely country from your redoubt. The improvements to your district since 1 last -saw it are wonderful and no doubt there is a good future before Tuakau. To yourself we are specially grateful, and admire the way you conducted the meetings, both at the hall and monument. The speeches were grand, and the outing so great that many of our men will never leave off talking about it. I again beg to thank one acd all, and wish vou and the Tuakau residents best regards and the complimennts of the season."

On behalf ot Mr H. B. Free, who is leaving the district, Messrs J. T. Steinbridge and Co. are to carry out p sale of household furniture and effects at his residence on Wednesday next, when the freehold property will also be submitted to auction.

Quite a large cumber of calveß were inoculated by Mr G. Ferbam, veterinary officer of the Agricultural Department, at the Tuakau saleyaids on Wednesday last.

There was a large yarding o cattle at the N.Z. Loan and M.A. Uo.'s saleyards yesterday, and good prices were realised. Three yearling Ayrshire Bteers, offered on behalf of Mr Fellow, Onewhero, sold at an average ot £7 10s each, and a six months old calf entered by the same , vendor exchanged hands at £4 9s. " An offerjof £7 17s 6d per head for a line of 15 yearling Shorthorn steers was declined by the owner, Mr D. Campbell, Pukekawa, his reserve being £8 ss.
