The necessary formal consent was given to the franklin County Council, at a meeting of ratepayers held in the County ofßceß at Pukekohe on Wednueday. to proceed with ihe closing of one half of the two-chain (width) Tram way road tor its full distance from Packington to Camerou Town by selling one chain of the same to the various frontage owners. The road, Cr J. Flanagan (the County Chairman) explained, was Borne ten miles in length. In reply to a question, Cr Flanagan also stated that be thought the Council would agree to "terms" being arranged tcr payment, and, further, that according to the valuations that had been made it was anticipated that the sale would give a return of £Bl3. Ihe County Clerk mentioned that the law provided that the purchase money should be expended on the road. A uHolution approving of the sale was uaninmously passed, some 20 ratepayers being in attendance at tilt Betting. • .
